OOC: This is for Zybyr only. :)

Adelaid's previous time in Botrus had taught her to be more careful. On her first visit, she had nearly been captured and killed by an insane and hellish beast. For as long as she lived, Adelaid was certain that she would never forget those many blinking eyes, and those long, horrid teeth. At first, Adelaid had thought that this was one of the monsters that others had been whispering about, but that demon did not quite fit the description. Adelaid was curious (perhaps suicidally so) to see the real deal.
She strayed back to Botrus, vowing to keep herself out of trouble as best she could. She knew that she was bound to be running out of luck soon, and couldn't count on another giant stallion to come save her.
Today there was a gentle breeze. It was tainted by a faint, unusual reek.
It's the smell of the dead, Adelaid realized.
The sun shone above, and there were few clouds in the sky. The few above skidded lazily overhead, barely more than wisps. Adelaid did not take the time to stare out at the water this time, or to gaze off at the horizon.
Suddenly, Adelaid spotted a dark shape in the distance, far below the cliff's slope. It moved slowly, and had an unusual gait. Adelaid turned an ear in that direction and narrowed her eyes. She could not heart it, but could just make out the shape of an equine moving on three legs, dragging behind a useless back leg.
Is that one of them? she wondered, her nostrils flaring as she drank in the air. Adelaid couldn't tell.
With a determined gleam in her deep blue eyes, the white and tan mare began to move carefully toward the creature.
