curiosity for the dead [ XYLOURIS & ROTEM ]

she could taste the stale smell of blood on the air. its intoxicating and erotic scent, the only thing that could make her tremble with need and pleasure when not in the company of a stallion. her many eyes opened and closed with her deep breaths, blinking open and shut eerily. their red eyes glowing horrendously and maliciously in the waning darkness. it wasn't exactly pretty, seeing the mare. she was quite hideous actually. but in a mildly sexy way, if it was possible.

her little body was lithe and sleek. yet bony and malnourished. her face gaunter and more cruel than anything anyone had ever encountered. her blood red eyes spoke of horrors far worse than your brain could ever imagine. she drank the life blood of others. she tore apart dead bodies. she was evil incarnate, and she was in the midst of a hunt.

xylouris' nostrils flared widely, her breath swirling before her face. as she tilted her head, her tall ears pricked to the side at the sound of hoofsteps. soft, quiet. a wide grin spread on her maw, sinister and wicked. the spiderweb traceries that lined her tiny frame seemed to glow and dim as she walked. her black mane and tail whipped behind her as she made her way towards the smell of life blood. she could hear it pumping.

she saw the deep blue eyes first. quiet, timid. it was staring at her, but immediately seemed to dismiss her. the evil mare narrowed all of her eyes, closing each one one by one until her two true ones remained awake, their crimson hues narrowing to harshly glowing slits. another huff from her nostrils allowed her a chance to near. " hello, pretty. what's a pretty thing like you doing out in this terrible place? " she asked, feigning innocence despite the obvious air of malicious treachery that hung off of like a bad odorous stench.

it was the way animals reacted to her very presence that had her tinkling with pleasure. the convulsions of raw excitement that coursed like electric currents under her skin. making her twitch and moan. it was almost disgusting. and this time, she managed to hold her breath to prevent some sort of weird sexual-like reaction from emitting. instead, her harsh red eyes glowed brilliantly as she stared at the mare. there was an evident sense of fear. however it was quickly being quelled. unfortunately, it was too late. xylouris has already smelt its taint. it thrilled her more than any stallion could. her ears twitched indifferently, trying to feign more fake innocence. how well it worked, the evil little thing didn't care.

mmm.. a flicker of eyelids across the mares grey body shone thin gleams of red light, watching the other mare from all angles. a deep seated snicker passed xylouris' lips as she tilted her head cruelly, her three wickedly sharp horns glinting. they weren't pretty at all. they were hideous and terrifying. blacker than night and jagged. reeking of death and terror. another wide smirk pressed across her lips, making her look even more horrifying.

she'd seen doubt in this young things eyes. just a flicker. but that had been enough. even with the toss of her head, the ear twitch. the way her scooped ears flattened hard against her skull. she was uneasy. wary. there was something that was holding her back. she was hardly intimidating. she was more likely to be intimidating herself. a horrible splintering laughter echoed past her lips, sharper teeth at the front being shown in just a flicker.

another tilt of her head had a eerie sense to her frame. it worked well with the many flickering eyelids riding atop the mares flesh. however her head snapped back to position as her answer was given. a rather lame, stupid one. one that was met with a hysterical bout of unattractive snickering. with a snort and a toss of her head, the smaller mare flicked her untidy tail, a hoof stepping into the ground. her hooves were cracked and bloodied. what had she done prior to meeting adelaid?

the mare shot a question at her, as if trying to protect her honor or something. a bored sigh passed xylouris' lips as she watched her through narrow slits. " oh.. this and that. i'm here for the game. destiny is a mere petty thing that young foals dream about. destiny is the moment you die, young thing. it's a shame to waste such a pretty face.. " she said eerily, as if hinting as to what xylouris wished to do with her. a cruel, mean grin stretched over her teeth, showing the ugly hideous monstrosities that were held inside. " care to play with me, pretty lass? " she laughed.

it reeked. the mare was gradually and slowly growing more and more afraid of her. it was almost painful, having to wait and tease and taunt the thing. she was hungry, and she was more than available. its not like she was running. xylouris' sneer stretched wider, and she chuckled cruelly under her breath. her breath seemed to come quick, the kardunn mare wide-eyed and speechless. xylouris' many eyes flicked to the mares tail as it lashed. she was thinking. how cute. thinking of a way to escape? it was extremely rare for anything to escape her. unless she had been playing, or something else intervened.

nothing would intervene though. she would be sure of that. her head tilted again, her neck growing taut. the spiderweb traceries shone delicately, the soft rise and fall of her flanks eerie and silent. she was holding so still that those soft breaths were hard to see. one might almost suggest she was undead or something. she almost had the smell on her. rotten flesh and blood. it was horrible. xylouris watched patiently with a maniacal laughter in her eyes, watching as the mare spoke. she was struggling to keep her voice even it seemed. how funny.

her question was even more amusing, and made xylouris wheeze in almost a sickly manner. " oh darling. everyone has a choice. except.. whatever choice you make will end the same either way. " she whispered, her voice queer, dangerous. a maniacal screaming laughter pressed against the mares chest, exploding outwards loudly from her mouth. as she stifled the insanity inside of her, she took several more steps towards her, baring her teeth dangerously, saliva dripping from her mouth as her savage, ugly face came closer.

xylouris wanted a chase. she wanted to hunt. to experience the near sexual pleasure of chasing down this mare. to smell her trail of fear. to follow her and then take her down. it made her tingle with excitement.

a moan of pleasure passed xylouris' lips as the mare became about as still as herself. her eyes wide with terror. or horror perhaps, it made no difference to her. fear was fear in whatever form or shape. it was the whimper that made her tremor with excitement. how paralyzed she was. the fact that she was just in reach of her teeth. to be torn apart and her life taken by the brutal mare. unfortunately for the demon, that never came to be. because the moment her hooves made their move towards her, the mare had bolted. a screech of delight tore through the wicked witches throat, and she whirled on her own hellish heels. her malicious angry teeth snapped inches from adelaide's rear just as she sped away.

the horrible insane laughter bubbled up in xylouris' chest, coming up to be a strangled cry of pleasure, her body shaking with the tremors. she was insane. insane, demonic, and hungry. the mare tore after her, her hooves digging into the dirt beneath her as she broke into a run, her tail a banner of messy tangles and dried blood, her many many glowing red eyes wide open, a shriek echoing past her lips. " yes.. run my darling. but remember. no matter where you run, you'll always find yourself trapped in my web. my precious little beauty.. " she whispered, before her body trembled violently with her laughter.

unfortunately, something else got in the way of xylouris' hunt. a massive black figure in the darkness, a harsh glow pulsing through the black blanket. soft eyes watched what was happening, his three cracked and broken horns nigh impossible to see in the darkness. he had seen all of that happen. he had witnessed the mare being taunted and tortured by the witch. he had heard minor rumors of her appearance. she was an evil thing. she ate the flesh of both the living and the dead. she was a monster that should indeed be feared. she was more dangerous than some took credit for. granted, she was a small thing. hardly that difficult to be rid of. but unfortunately, she was smarter and more intelligent despite her insanity.

but the moment the monster had taken a step towards the innocent mare, he had made a noise of sudden distress. he avoided any and all contact with other unicorns. he found them to be more dangerous than they appeared as well, even if they were actually innocent. but this mare. this kardunn, as he noted by her set of horns. she was innocent. and reeked of genuine fear. she would die without so much as a second thought if the monstrosity of a demon caught her. and catch her she probably would. she was like a spider. she waited in torment, letting others know she was there, while allowing them to run in the other direction right into her trap. only to coil them up and suck the life out of them.

rotem's nostrils flared then, as the made bolted, a scream of terror seizing her. at once, the stallion took off as well, making his way around. granted, he wasn't much faster than either of them, but he pressed himself harder as xylouris neared. the minute there was a gap between their breaths, rotem burst from the shadows, landing hard in front of the wretched beast, her scream of rage highpitched and loud. she had scrambled in her haste, her eyes flashing and flickering with anger. but the size of him had drawn her off as he chased after her a moment, his intimidatingly horrifying looks appearing dangerous.

with her gone, the stallion glanced back at the mare, assuming she had continued running. xylouris had fled, her hunt interrupted and no longer fun. she would chase something else when nothing would interfere. maybe something of smaller weight. a rabbit or a fox. the only thing reminding them of her presence was her maniacal scream. though it was filled with hate as the mare sped away from them. rotem bent his great head as he watched adelaide with his solemn green and yellow eyes. the rest of him, however, deemed him dangerous and intimidating.

his ears twitched, catching the sound of adelaid's fall. she was laying there now, watching with a look of defeat and fear and sorrow. she had made no move to run anymore. instead, she was watching him. his hooves lifted slightly as he made a step backwards, avoiding her. his own ears tilted backwards, his nostrils flaring silently in a wariness. he had saved her, but she still remained terrified. he posed a threat as well. he was bigger than she was, and likely far more dangerous. his eyes watched as she leaned herself into the ground, cowering before him.

a light of defiance shone in her eyes. but it seemed to be pushed away by the mares obvious defeat. she was giving up. giving up that she could live. unsure how to respond to her requests, the stallion let out a snort, shaking his tail before turning smoothly. he wouldn't remain here then. he only scared her, so he would no longer have anything to do with her. the hellish fiend that had been hunting her was gone. perhaps not for good. the spider seemed to have a thing for holding grudges and hunting for as long as it took.

but for now, she was gone. rotem, bending his head down slightly, had turned on his heels and was pressing himself away from adelaid. ignoring her request calmly and making his way in the opposite direction she faced.

her voice was like thunder in his ears. apparently that previous fear and defeat was gone. either a hoax or a sudden change of spirit. all he knew, was that he wasn't about to stick around to talk to her. she seemed angry, angry at herself and at him and at everything. he didn't want to be pinned for something like that. rotem's ears twitched as she ran after him, his slow gait slowly being of no use to her thin legs carrying her after him. though, at the last moment her voice softened slightly, a grudging apology-esque thank you written in her lips. he flicked his tail absently, unsure how to respond. he didn't want her. he didn't want thanks. of course, in a world such as this any other being wouldn't have saved her.

they'd have eagerly let her die so that they themselves weren't seen as dessert. the stallion glanced away, ignoring her thank you. she seemed to be at war with herself. and his eyes drew over the contours of her face gently. he blinked, his scar riddled face seeming strained. the harshly glowing vines writhed inside of his skin, making him tremble slightly with the feeling. he let out a huff, not saying anything, instead halting his walk and ignoring her. it likely wouldn't happen again, him saving her. he highly doubted he'd see her again. he was a wanderer, a ghost and a shadow behind the world. he wasn't even sure why he had protected her from that thing.

the muscles underneath his skin rolled, years of battle and fighting and running lean, giving him a handsome appeal. to anyone who could look past his battle scarred hide and intimidatingly dangerous looks. with a step away from her, rotem turned away, making his way across the ground away from her, his hooves picking at the ground as his large lumbering body carried itself away.

even though he had walked away, even though he had ignored her attempts of thankfulness, disregarding her in an attempt to forget, she seemed intent to keep at it. he heard her hooves thrumming against the ground as she followed him. but this time at a distance. she continued to talk, though most of it rotem didn't pay attention to. instead, when she finally stopped her chatter, the brute of a stallion flicked his ears back, swishing his tail. " neither would anyone else have. " he rumbled, his voice less than reassuringly safe. it was a growl, a dangerous tone that many feared. his hooves continued to bring him forward, not at all intent on listening to her.

he had saved her, yes. he did not need thanks. he did not need anything at all. his black hide rolled with the muscles underneath, taut with mild frustration. something hardly noticeable. the stallion picked up his pace then, bringing himself away from her. he really wanted nothing more to do with the situation. some mean part of him was regretting his act to save her. even though he would have likely done it again had it happened in front of him again, if you knew what i meant.
